Meet Our 2026 Swim Instructors

Coach Caroline has been a swim instructor for three years. She has experience working with children 1-3, 5+, and adults. Her favorite thing to teach is water safety and recovery skills like floating and treading. Her favorite memory as an instructor is when a swimmer conquered their fears jumping into the deep end and swimming to the wall at the end of a week of lessons.

Coach Colin has been a swim instructor for two years years. He works with children ages 5+, looking back fondly on times that he’s watched a kid achieve a new milestone or personal best time after lessons. He specializes in teaching technique and form of all strokes, and loves to work with children bound for pre-team and swim team at Laurelwood, encouraging their growth as both swimmers and people.

This is Coach Isa’s second year as a swim instructor. She works with children ages 3+, and especially loves to teach side breathing in freestyle to swimmers working on stroke development. Her favorite memories as an instructor are moments seeing kids happy after lessons with all they have accomplished. She is super positive and has experience as a swimmer herself, giving her tools to help young swimmers become the best they can be.

This is Coach Micah’s second year as a swim instructor. He works with children of all ages, and his favorite thing to teach is the fundamentals to swimming and water safety. Micah looks forward to playing games with the kids during their lessons, and his biggest strength as an instructor is his patience.

Coach Reese has been a swim instructor for three years. She works with children ages 3+, and loves to teach diving. As an instructor, Reese aims to meet children where they are, and help them grow beyond that toward their individual goals. She loves to teach dives and her favorite memory as an instructor is having a cannonball contest with kids at the end of their week of lessons.

This is Coach Sam’s second year being a swim instructor. He works primarily with children ages 5+ and loves to teach freestyle to those developing their strokes. His favorite memory as an instructor is when a student gave him a drawing of him as a fish. Sam is great at incentivizing kids to get out of their comfort zone!

This is Coach Bea’s second year as a swim instructor. She works with children ages 3+, and uses her own experience as an instructor to help her teach. Her favorite memories as an instructor are seeing kids meet their goals, and her biggest strength is being understanding and working well with kids. She loves to teach dives, too!

This is Coach Ben’s second year as a swim instructor. He works with children ages 5+ but is comfortable with any age. He is a swimmer himself, using that experience to inform his instructing. He especially likes to teach backstroke, and his favorite memories are seeing major improvements in kids that want to learn, taking feedback throughout the process to adapt his teaching.
